Shared snippets

A shared snippet is a regular snippet that you attach to specific products or whole collections, instead of letting the AI retrieve it by relevance. Write it once and it applies to every product in the chosen collections, including products you add to those collections later.

Like every snippet, it stays private: the AI uses it to answer but never shows or cites it to shoppers.

General vs. targeted

When you create or edit a snippet on the Knowledge page, a "Where this snippet applies" section lets you choose how it reaches the AI:

ModeThe AI uses it...Best for
General (default)Anywhere it is relevant to the question, across your whole storeFAQs, brand-wide info
Products & collectionsOnly when it talks about one of the products you target (directly or through a collection)Info that belongs to a category or a set of products

A targeted snippet behaves like a product snippet, except you define it once and it covers many products at once. It is kept out of the general search, so it never surfaces on unrelated questions.

Create a shared snippet

  1. Go to AI Agent → Train → Content → Sources.
  2. Create a new Snippet (or open an existing one).
  3. Fill the title and content as usual.
  4. Under "Where this snippet applies", switch from General to Products & collections.
  5. Add one or more collections and/or products in the two pickers.
  6. Save.

The snippet now applies to every product in those collections, plus any product you targeted directly.

Collections are the easy win

Target a collection rather than individual products whenever the info belongs to a category ("All wool sweaters: hand wash only", "Every gift card is non-refundable"). Any product you later add to that collection inherits the snippet automatically, with nothing to re-link.

Where it shows up on a product

Open any product in that collection, then its Product snippet panel (AI Agent → Train → Content → Catalog → a product → "Product snippet"). Below the product's own snippets, a "Shared snippets" section lists, read-only, the shared snippets that reach this product, with:

  • the collection they come from (or a "This product" tag when you targeted the product directly), and
  • an "Open editor" button that jumps to the snippet on the Knowledge page so you can edit it centrally.

Editing a shared snippet there updates it for every product it applies to, instantly.

Good to know

  • A shared snippet is private (AI only), never shown or cited to shoppers, like every snippet.
  • Membership is live: a product joining a targeted collection inherits the snippet automatically; if it leaves, the snippet no longer applies. No manual re-linking.
  • Switching a snippet back to General detaches it from all products and collections and returns it to the general search.
  • You can target both collections and individual products on the same snippet.
